The initial weeks of this prompted introspection on how I portray myself, what I value, how I represent myself and my profession, and the ways I validate information. With the various postings, I found myself on a quest to validate my rationale, leading to some significant realizations and changes.
The course extracted ethical dilemmas that still remain blurry in my lens, including being involved in social media disputes, but on the fronts of my profession, public accountability, and social media representation, I have adjusted to represent my profession at a higher degree. I did not anticipate reuploading my LinkedIn profile, but now, I am happy to see it up and running. With the exception of the Critical Care certificate program, it had been some time since I last completed a paper and had access to library databases. Relearning the art of analyzing and synthesizing articles and journals, extracting key points presented an initial challenge. However, through persistent practice, I feel more comfortable with these skills, developing a more nuanced sense.
Curating resources emerged as another learning opportunity. Unfamiliar with the tools available for this task initially, I discovered the utility of Diigo. Utilizing tags to organize and structure my resources, I've gained the ability to swiftly reference content. While acknowledging that more tools are at my disposal, I am content with my progress in this aspect.
Navigating the chaotic platform of social media, characterized by easy access and diminished accountability, presented a unique set of challenges. Recognizing the potential for misinformation influenced by personal bias, political preferences, or deceptive intentions, I've embraced the responsibility, particularly as a healthcare professional, to maintain a professional status and deliver validated information to the public.
The evolution of my E-Portfolio stands as evidence to my journey. I am undecided about keeping the same color scheme and font, but the content within, spanning resources, blogs, and other pages, has witnessed substantial growth that I will happily keep. The Resources page seamlessly links to my Diigo page, featuring subcategories like virtual care for more targeted exploration. Engaging with my classmates, sharing experiences, and learning from their processes have been instrumental. The week where we curated each classmate’s website was particularly enlightening, as I was able to see how others structured their information and also had the opportunity to connect with other health care professionals.
As I reflect on this transformative journey, I recognize the significance of continuous learning, adaptation, and collaboration. The challenges encountered in this course have become steppingstones for personal and professional growth, and I eagerly anticipate the continued evolution of my skills and perspectives in the remainder of this course.
